Career Education Advisory Services

The establishment of the Careers Education Advisory Services within the Rwandan higher institutions was driven by the need to prepare and equip students with employability skills that are crucially needed on the Rwandan labour market. In 2009, RDB/HCID together with higher learning institutions combined efforts to establish visible and effective Career Education Advisory Centers in both public and private.

These centers are expected to help students better understand their chosen profession as well as help them create a career path. It is necessary that upon graduation students are fully prepared for the “world of work” despite their career choice or educational background.

The following are some of the services that RDB extends to students of course through various centers in the higher institutions of learning across the country

•   Help to make informed decisions while choosing their field of study

•   Develop Job Seeking Skills

•   Enhance Interview skills

•   Assist with organization of Careers Days and workshops

•   Link students with employers

We encourage employers in future to send their vacancies to institutions’ Career Advisory Centers. Employers may recruit directly from the institutions towards the end of the academic year as well as for short or part time jobs for students.

RDB/HCID encourages career centers in various institutions to regularly post valuable information on career services on their institution’s websites. Questions should also be posted to the same website and answers provided for all students to view.
